Rebirthing
"It's a journey from who you think you are,
through who you fear you might be,
to who you really are."

Rebirthing Breathwork or Maha Yoga is one of the most beautiful and one of the most popular forms of modern Breathwork. It is the source of all other styles and approaches of New Age Breathwork developed and used today. Rebirthing was introduced by Leonard Orr in late 1970's and it continues to spread under a variety of names, throughout the world, due to its simplicity, power, and efficancy. Rebirthing is a process of conscious connected breathing, whereby the inhale is connected to the exhale in a smooth, continuous flow.

Simply, Rebirthing is a powerful tool for dissolving the dead zones of fear and resistance, and releasing the natural life forces of love and acceptance. This guided breathing technique helps us clear out the stored-up memories that we have judged to be wrong and denied, and therefore suppressed. Fear is at the core of this suppression. The energy we spend to suppress the past, robs us of the energy to live fully right now. The connected breathing activates stored suppressions and allows them to resurface into conscious awareness, often in the form of energy patterns such as tingling, numbness, tears, laughter etc.

A qualified Rebirther provides a safe and accepting place for the client to integrate these rejected parts of the self back into consciousness. Once integration takes place, self-rejection is replaced by self-acceptance.

Through Rebirthing, we can move from a place of victimhood to the power of creating a life full of freedom and joy.

Immersed in water or lying on the ground one breathes with the guidance of a rebirther in rythmic breaths to enter an unconscious rebirth. This is an emotional process. Leonard Orr calls it, "a full body orgasm that lasts approximately an hour. It washes the human mind and body with divine energy. It is the biogical experience of God" (Intuitive Breathing, Orr).
