Julia:
"Spiritual Breathing originated from Rebirthing and Conscious
Connected Energy Breathing, and was developed and perfected by
Dan Brule, now being spread all over the world. Interestingly
enough, it seems to be more popular in other countries than in
the U.S. There are many books in other languages, and almost none
in English. Possibly one reason is that americans would rather
do their inner work more "one the surface", it's not
that easy for the to really let go, andtruly get out of the way
which this breathwork process encourages us to do. Maybe it's
because for people in the U.S. it's too scary to let go of the
control, or they can't see much value in it. I don't know. It's
just interesting to watch it happen. Even some of those who have
had most incredible and enlightening experiences through Spiritual
Breathing ot Breath of Love breathwork, are afraid to dive back
into the experience because they know on a subconscious level
that they will need to loose control again. And thei mind and
ego of course don't want to let it happen."
Deepening through Spiritual Breathing tend to be really soft though.
It allows us to experience awakening of healing energies and calming
forces within us in a gentle, flowing, loving way. The main goal
is gentle transformation, and loving integration.
The
practitioner is continuously and intuitively guiding and supporting
the breather to go as far and as deep as he/she is ready to go
at that moment. Sometimes some energy or bodywork is used to help
to release the tension. Also verbal guidance and positive affirmations
help hold the space of total safety and relaxation, assiting easy
processing of energy, letting go of repressed emotions and subconscious
memories.
There
is no wrong or right nor bad or good way. It is about being totally
and unconditionally Present with whatever "IS", learning
to welcome, embrace and trust everything to be Divine. It's a
moment-to-moment journey and every single breath on it is a gentle
healing of letting go. It directs many so called “unconscious”
reactions or “involuntary” processes, regulates our
physiological, emotional, psychological and spiritual states.
Spiritual Breathing techniques are sometimes combined with the
power of thought, sound, visualization or other modalities that
are intuitively guided or feel good to the receiver. The only
unchangable part of it is Conscious Connected Breathing where
a cleansing breath pattern, deep relaxation, and conscious and
allowing presence are used.
In daily life Breathwork experience and Spiritual Breathing skills
help us to stay grounded in our body and in present moment reality.
The breath is a bridge between the conscious and unconscious mind.
Opening the channel between those mental compartments, it stimulates
exchange and balance between the intellectual and the instinctual,
the rational and the intuitive, between the masculine and the
feminine aspects of our being.
Putting
our attention on the breath is like putting our attention in neutral.
It is safe. By diverting attention from upsetting thoughts, feelings
and images, it conserves mental energy, and allows life force
flow through our bodies more fully and freely. It pulls energy
away from anxiety producing mental activity, dysfunctional self-talk,
useless rational chatter, and unhealthy habits. It helps us, on
our own, succeed where psychotherapy and pharmacology have failed.
Simply turning to the Breath is turning towards Spirit. By turning
to the Breath, we turn toward our Spiritual Self, that non-physical
yet essential aspect of our Being revealing our ultimate potential,
powerful vitality and unconditional Joy of the moment.
Spiritual
Breathing takes us deeper than a
conscious mind could ever take us. It opens us wider than any
trying or struggle could ever open us. This process really empowers
us to get out of the way and let the Spirit, Universe, Highest
Good or Divine Flow live through us. And from this space we find
ourselves receiving and giving effortlessly, loving each moment
just as it is, with great trust and honor for the whole creation,
and love for our expression in this world.
